At HJP, we strongly believe that providing quality education at the grassroots level can ignite a powerful and lasting change in our society. With this vision, we launched the Al Qalam Academy nearly three years ago in Orangi Town, one of the most underprivileged communities in Karachi, where families are struggling daily for basic survival and cannot afford even minimal educational expenses.

Our Journey So Far

  • Initial Phase: We began with 50 children in a modest facility that could barely accommodate 100 students.
  • Growth & Expansion: In September 2024, we shifted to a new three-story building in the same locality. The new facility, with 11 classrooms, now supports up to 250 students per shift.
  • Current Enrollment: With increasing demand, we’ve expanded to two shifts, and today, we proudly serve approximately 310 students.

Financial Overview

  • Monthly Tuition Fee: PKR 500 per child
  • Monthly Operational Cost: PKR 300,000
  • Fee Recovery: Approx. PKR 150,000
    The remaining deficit is covered by the generous contributions of our donors, to whom we are deeply grateful.

Facilities We’ve Established

Despite limited resources, we’ve managed to provide our students with the following key facilities:

✅ Solar Power System – to tackle frequent electricity outages in the area
✅ Computer Lab – equipped with 10 laptops and 2 desktops, offering basic training in:

  • Typing skills
  • MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Basic Graphic Design
    We also have an advanced IT training roadmap for students who complete the foundation level.

✅ LCD-Based Learning – Installed in Nursery and KG classrooms to make early learning engaging through educational cartoons and rhymes

✅ Skill Development Program – Focusing on:

  • Public speaking
  • Mental math
  • Foundational computer skills
  • Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) to prepare students for the future

Our Vision Ahead

We aim to expand this model to other remote areas of Karachi and are actively working toward launching new branches by 2025.
